Cantor Teplitz
Cantor Teplitz
Cantor Michelle Teplitz is thrilled to be the Hazzan of Marlboro Jewish Center. From a young vocalist under the tutelage of her childhood Cantor to the five Congregational families she has been a part of, Cantor Teplitz has spent more than twenty years passionately involved in all aspects of Jewish life. Ordained in 2010, Cantor Teplitz has spent most of the last decade leading congregations in song, preparing children for their B'nai Mitzvah, leading youth and adult choirs, and bringing new and exciting Jewish music to the lives of her congregants.
While Cantor Teplitz loves being on the bima, she is at her best when she is in the classroom bringing the power of Jewish music to kids of all ages. Prior to her career on the pulpit, Cantor Teplitz spent many years as both a Judaic and secular music teacher, working predominantly with children in grades K-5. She believes strongly in the powerful role that music can play in helping children build confidence, tell stories, and develop a solid foundation of Jewish identity. It is that belief that has led Cantor Teplitz, at all stages of her career, to develop new ways to bring music into the lives of children and adults alike. She is a founding member of L'Shir, a Jewish a capella group at the University of Hartford, an experienced musical director, and the creator of countless new and innovative ways to experience nusach within the Synagogue walls.
When Cantor Teplitz is not at Marlboro Jewish Center, she can usually be found spending time with her husband, Ari Teplitz, and their children, Amalya and Elijah. The entire Teplitz family is thrilled to be a part of MJC and can't wait to celebrate many Shabbatot, holidays, and simchas together.
