MJC Preschool - Rita Rashotsky, Director

MISSION

Our mission is to provide our children with a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment in which each child may develop a positive attitude about themselves and others that encourages a life-long love of learning.  We provide each child with experiences that build socialization skills, encourage exploration, and foster creativity.

CURRICULUM

Our well-balanced curriculum exposes the children to language arts, science, math, social studies, literature, art, music, drama, cooking, and play through a developmentally appropriate approach.  Gross motor activities are enhanced by our newly renovated outdoor playground that includes both soft and grassy areas and a full-size indoor gymnasium.

TEACHING STAFF

Our classes are taught by qualified, knowledgeable and loving educators. Their classroom activities are planned to accommodate the children’s social, emotional, physical, and academic growth.  Our small class size and two teachers in every classroom allows the children to have individual attention that is so vital to positive growth and development.

JUDAISM

The children in our program become familiar with the culture, holidays and customs of Judaism as well as discover the importance of tzedakah, mitzvot and Jewish values.  Jewish life is rich with sensory delights that our children experience at the preschool – baking challah, smelling latkes, counting the candles in a Hanukkah menorah and singing Shabbat songs each week with Rabbi Pont and Cantor Teplitz are a highlight.  Throughout the year, each child has an opportunity to invite his/her family to join in the classroom and school celebration of Shabbat.  There are many opportunities for families to come and celebrate holidays including Hanukkah, Purim and Passover. Through these experiences, Jewish traditions and values become learning opportunities and provide lifelong connections to Judaism.
